Ala Elfellah, Regional Consultant for the MENA Region

Ala Elfellah is the Regional Consultant for the MENA Region, for the Humanitarian Grand Challenge.

In her role at HGC, Ala conducts research, consultation and creation of media engagement opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa, reaching out to the hardest-to-reach communities in the conflict-affected Arab Region to promote the HGC request for proposals.

Ala has worked on promoting and implementing projects and educational initiatives, in conflict affected countries and vulnerable communities. She graduated with high honors from Centre Européen de Recherches Internationales et Stratégiques, in Brussels, with a Masters research topic on “The Role of Religion in Contemporary Revolutions and Political Upheaval: A Comparative Case Study of Iran and Libya”. Her education and experience evolve around war and peace, reaching out to vulnerable communities and engaging youth, women and men in peace dialogues.

In her previous work, Ala worked as Communication Officer with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), managed and coordinated communication campaigns to promote the organization’s core fields of expertise to the MENA region and Gulf countries. In this capacity, she led one of UNESCO’s communication campaigns, acting as coordinator the Campaign #unite4heritage, a global response to the massive destructions that happened to the common cultural heritage by extremists groups.
Ala is interested in counter- terrorism and women’s empowerment in conflict context.
